Get a taste of the Indiana State Police Recruit Academy. Young men and women get a first-hand look at the role of a police officer in today’s society through physical training, familiarization of police equipment, conducting their own crime scene investigations, talking with defense attorneys, judges, and other experts in the criminal justice field.

The American Legion Junior Shooting Sports Program is a marksmanship program encompassing the basic elements of gun safety, education, enjoyment, and competition. Males and females learn from NRA-trained instructors and compete using the .177 caliber air rifle

More of the intellectual type? Participants in the American Legion Oratorical Contest develop leadership qualities, the ability to think and speak clearly and intelligently. Contest requires a single main speech related to the U.S. Constitution and an “Assigned Topic” lasting 3 to 5 minutes.

Eligibility for The American Legion Family Scholarship is open to the children and grandchildren of current paid members of The American Legion, American Legion Auxiliary, and the Sons of The American Legion; and the children and grandchildren of members who are deceased and who, at the time of death, were current paid members of the above organizations.
